Reminder: Guild meeting Tomorrow!

A few announcements...

Some of you may have heard Jeri say something about a white elephant gift exchange at the end of the June meeting. Not everyone heard, so we'll reschedule that for another time. Save your item until then!

We will not be having a Rags to Riches table this month; watch this space for the next meeting where we'll have that table.

This month's meeting theme is Christmas in July/Feliz Navidad en Julio, so please feel free to bring any Christmas works in progress or complete items and we'll share a few easy projects you can make in time to welcome Saint Nick this year!

Finally, our own Yvonne Weinstein and her husband Jeff are headed to Uganda for at least to year to become missionaries! Our help is needed for them so that they can help those in need in Uganda. Yvonne will be teaching women in Uganda how to sew, so please feel free to bring new or like-new sewing notions (no fabric) for her to take on mission:
hand sewing needles, scissors, buttons, zippers, thread, small cutting mats, cording, ziplock bags, thimbles, straight pin, lace or ribbons, felt, tape measures

Follow the Weinsteins trip on their blog.

Here's your reminder list of things to bring:

  • Your homemade name badge
  • Your June 2019 BOM
  • Round Robin Exchange #2 - if you can't make it, please make sure you complete your addition and give the bag to a friend who is coming to exchange for you
  • Your Raincross Quilt Guild pin, which is worth an EXTRA ticket in the door prize drawing! If you don't have one, you can purchase one for $5 at the door.
  • If you were born in February, May, or October, you're invited to bring a snack to share (but it's not required!).
  • Bottled water or other non-alcoholic drink

See you all tomorrow!

Reminder: Guild meeting Tomorrow!

I promise to do better with the blog the second half of this year; I have no good excuse.

That being said, tomorrow is our June meeting and our annual summer potluck! Twice a year we invite everyone to bring a dish or dessert to share - but as always, it's not required.

And here's an idea for all those extra blocks and bits and bobs you've made along away - piece them together into a "potluck" quilt! Do you have a potluck quilt? If so, bring it tomorrow for Show and Share!

  • Bottled water or other non-alcoholic drink
See you all tomorrow!

P.S. The second Round Robin exchange is due NEXT month, at the July guild meeting. Please feel free to contact Cassandra if you have any questions.

Coolest thing you'll see this week: baby eagles!

This is completely non-quilt related (other than we emblazon so many quilts with their images), but humor me, you'll love this.

I saw this linked on Facebook this morning and I've had it up and running on my iPad pretty much all day. It's absolutely fascinating to watch!

Learn more about this eagle nest and live web cam here. Enjoy!

Updated March BOM Measurements

Hey folks, thanks to Rose pointing out I had a few measurements incorrect in my first BOM (/sigh) so thank you for your patience while I figure this out!

The half square triangles that need to be squared up to 3 1/2" really need to start with slightly bigger squares - whoops! The instructions have been updated. Thanks!

February 2019 Meeting Review

[Ed. note: Remember my grandfather saying that Christmas lasts all year so he technically had a whole year to give out his presents...yeah, that's still happening!]

We had a rollicking good time at our February meeting. A big shout out to our fellow quilters at the Inland Empire Quilters Guild! They are going bonkers making beautiful Happy Bags and other community charity projects and have decided to bring all those lovelies to put through our charity channels. In February, they made SEVENTY-FOUR Happy Bags - outstanding job, ladies and gents!

AAAAALLLL the Happy Bags!

In addition, the Inland Empire Quilters Guild have a quilt show coming up May 3rd (10am - 5pm) & 4th (9am - 4pm) at Nellie Weaver Hall, 3737 Crestview Dr (Corner of 6th & Crestview) in Norco.

Check out all the quilts shown during Show and Share.

Evie announced the tentative date for the next Hoffman Tour for July 15th. Pencil it into your calendars and stay tuned for more information.

The spring quilt retreat to Vinya de Lestonnac, Sippin' and Stitchin', still has a few spots open, so contact Barbara M. today.

Your completed 2018 Block of the month quilts are due at the March meeting and 50% Challenges are due at the April meeting. Cassandra G., who is taking over from Elly H. for both BOM and Challenges, gave us a sneak peek at our first 2019 Block [ed. note: you'll love the theme, I promise!].

January 2019 Meeting Review

Karen D. showing off her new hat
[Ed. note: My grandfather always used to say that Christmas lasts all year so he technically had a whole year to give out his presents. So really, I still have 10 months to get this post done, right? Forgive my tardiness...]

We had a lovely kick off for the new year and gifts just kept on coming. Angie N. had several items up for raffle grabs, including several fat 1/8's, won by Shelly N, a quilt rack, won by Andie B., and a hexie quilt, won by Karen D. Congratulations ladies and thank you Elf Angie!

As a reminder for everyone, please remember to sign into the Goeske Center at the terminal in the hallway. Our ability to use the facility for free is dependent on all of us checking in, so please don't forget!

Sara H. also donated a few items, including this lovely ponytail beanie gratefully received and modeled by Karen D.

The Quilt of Valor National Sew Day is Saturday February 2nd from 9am-3pm. Click here for more information.

Elly H. presented the last Block of Month of 2018 (available here) and invited everyone to bring in their completed quilts at the March 2019 meeting.

Elly also reminded us that it's time again for the 50% Challenge - dig out that project that you've been putting off that's halfway done and get it finished, all the way finished. Bring your completed projects to the April 2019 meeting.

Board and Chairpersonships were announced - and we're still looking for a new Nancy to take over Nancy's Nifty Notions! Please contact Jeri or Tami if you can help. We also still need a few people to help take a Mystery Box month - check out the link above and contact Jeri or Tami if you can help.

Our annual Spring Retreat to Vinya de Lestonnac is coming up May 17th-19th and there are still a few spots open. The theme this year is Sippin' and Stitchin' and the cost is $298. Contact Barbara M. to sign up.
