March 2018 Meeting Review

Gloria H. showing off a ChildHelp quilt
We had another great meeting last Tuesday night. Thank you to everyone for rolling with it when the tables were arranged differently! I think Jeri said that it was unintentional and that they'll be back to "normal" for the next meeting. But change is good! It keeps us on our toes.

Jeri reminded us that we all really must sign into the Goeske Center; we are privileged to have use of the Center for free, but that they get a lot of their funding by accounting for the number of people using the Center, so please...go *beep!* your badge!

Sharon C. informed that she's signed up another hospital, Riverside County, to receive Threads of Love and that means we need to get busy making more! She's asked that if anyone has a kit out to please make it up or simply return it, no matter what state it's in at the next meeting so that we can keep up with the demand of supplying two hospitals.

Susan C. has more Quilt of Valor kits and we need to keep up production so that we're ready for the next presentation ceremony later this year. Please contact her if you can help stitch up a kit, quilt a top and/or sew on binding.

Gloria H. wanted to thank everyone who's helping make quilts for the kids at Child Help. She said the children really appreciate their quilts and we need to make sure every child has a special quilt. Contact Gloria if you can help out and if you'd like to get a kit from her.

The next guild quilting retreat, "Our Quilted Neighborhood", is coming up May 18th- 20th at Vina de Lesstonnac (aka The Nunnery) in Temecula and Barbara M. reminded those attending (22 signed up!) that the balance of the $270 total will be due at the April meeting.

Angie N. told us that her group earned $1112 for the vintage quilt raffle to help the village in Africa with clean water. And the funny story is that the winning ticket was the first ticket sold - to Angie's mother! Congratulations and good job on the fund raiser.

Elly H. announced our 2018 Block of the Month - Disappearing Blocks! Our first block is a Disappearing Four Patch.

Elly also reminded us that our 50% challenge quilts are due at the April meeting, so time to get busy completely finishing those projects!

Finally we showed off our 2017 completed Block of the Month quilts and quilts from the Row by Row - wow, they were amazing! Good job everyone! Be sure to check out all the photos.
