Our Fabulous Speaker last Month

We were privileged last month to have Gloria McKeehan of Redlands as our speaker and trunk show presentor.  She had a very interesting story to tell us about her life as a quilter.  And she does fabulous quilts having won prizes all over the country at Paducah, Road to California, the International Quilt Festival amongst others.  What amazed us all besides the beauty of her quilts and the workmanship  she made were the backs which  rated to be a quilt of their own - many truly inspiring whole cloth quilts.  We were in awe.  Here is one of her show stoppers:

And here are some close-ups of her fabulous applique - these blocks were designed by Gloria and the fabrics all came from her stash.

You can see more of her stunning quilts on the posted slideshow on our right sidebar.

Are you doing the VA Quilt Challenge?

These are easy, fun, and addictive, and you can make them from your scraps!  All you need is 20 to make a VA lap quilt - they measure 9 1/2" square unfinished.  Here are the directions from Christine.  Quilt top due in May.  Any questions?  Call Christine - her number is in the directory.

Celebrate Natl Quilt Day on March 17th Sew Day!

Hi!  We're having a Sew Day March 17th (9 - 4pm at Janet Goeske)

and celebrating National Quilt Day together by (you guessed it!) sewing together.  The guild will provide Corned Beef and Cabbage for lunch - please consider bringing other potluck items - side dishes, desserts, etc.  And we'll sew and sew the day away with your own projects or one being offered (I know a pincushion one was mentioned).  We'd love to see you all there!

PS:  If you know a member who does not have a computer, how about printing this message off for them and sending or delivering it to them?  Thanks!
