Recipes from the Retreat

We had such good snacks/food at the retreat.  Gloria's contributions were a great hit (as were others) -see some photos of our last meal there on right sidebar.  Here are the recipes she promised:

Chili relleno casserole
1/2 stick margarine, 1 70z. can whole green chilis & 1 small can chopped chilis, l lb. cheddar grated chees, 3 eggs, 2 cups milk, 3/4 tsp. salt, 1 cup bisquick, small pieces of jack cheese
enough to put 1 inside each whole chilis
Melt butter in 13" x 9" pan, arrange whole chilis stuffed with jack cheese n bottom of pan, then add 3/4 of cheddar cheese on top of whole chilies , blend eggs, salt, chopped chilies, milk & bisquick & then pour over whole chilies & cheese in pan, sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top and place in preheated over at 350 degrees.  bake 35-40 minutes (casserole will be golden brown on top)  let set a few minutes before serving warm.

Green chili appetizer
Use a 9 x 13 baking pan, 1 lb. of grated cheddar cheese, 3 eggs well beaten, 1/4-1/2 cup green chili mixture (I use "Green fudge" which is a mixture of chopped green chilis and little bit of jalapano & spices to "spice" it up). I use 1/4 cup in appetizer.

In baking pan sprayed with oil, spread 2 cups grated cheddar cheese.  Add & mix green chili mixture with eggs and then pour over cheese in pan and then add remaining cheese about 2 cups to top.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Cut in pieces and serve warm with tortilla chips.

If you have any trouble reading this please let me know.  Thanks, Gloria.

I'll be adding them to our recipe tab.  See you at the meeting next Tuesday!

Our May Speaker:

Juli Shulem, PCC

Lecture:
"Conquer Your Quilt Room!" - Step-by-step Power Point Presentation of how to deal with the overwhelm of organizing fabric and quilt supplies.
My presentation is a light, funny and very informative presentation on how to go about organizing and maintaining one's quilt room.  I don't sell or promote any specific products, so it isn't slanted toward anything but the step-by-step process and how to create space for items where none previously existed.
I have been a speaker and workshop presenter in the field of Organizing and Time Management for nearly thirty years. Since I am a quilter I was encouraged by members of my own guild to share my information so I decided to turn my skills toward this arena as well.

Should be interesting.

Also for us who have neither the time nor means to go to these excellent quilt museums, go here to see a great article and photos on Reflections of the Exotic East in American Quilts.  Their online collections are great reading, too.  We could spend hours here. Enjoy!

Where's your pin?

A reminder:

Where's Your Pin?

Your Guild Pin - I mean.  Is it on your badge?  We haven't seen many of them on badges.

In May we have a new drawing - your chance to win something quilty if your name is drawn for the Who's Got the Pin Prize.  How do you enter? First, put your guild pin on your name badge. Then,  when you sign in at the May Meeting you'll get a special ticket on which you write your name and place it in the Pin Box. A lucky winner will be drawn that night.

Don't have a pin?  See Sandy Sheppard to buy one.  Buy it before you sign in at the May meeting so you can play this game.

This won't be a monthly drawing - just one now and then so be prepared - wear your pin.

Retreat was Fabulous

Back from retreat - what a grand time we had.  It was a beautiful place.  The weather couldn't have been nicer or the facility better.  They had set up cutting tables and ironing stations even before we got there.  Once our work stations were as we wanted, they came and taped down the cables so no one would trip.  There were bathrooms on each end of the hall, and a full kitchen to use.  And the all included meals were fabulous!
Where we went! A beautiful retreat center
in the heart of wine country in SoCal.
We even had hot air balloon sitings one morning - getting ready for balloon festival.
Mom working on her disappearing nine-patch - she got the top done!

The quilting room couldn't have been nicer.  It even has a quilting library!
Of course we had to sample the local wines!

Here we all are at Primitive Gatherings, CA store. We also went
to The Temecula Quilt Co. - two stores with big online presence.
More photos on right sidebar.  We know the week days were a problem. Next time will be a weekend - weekends were already booked a year in advance!
