May's BOM Blocks

Our Mission Inn block was a little more challenging - if you haven't made curves in a while - but very doable.  And there is always the method using fusible interface for doing those six curves. Don't let a curve make you miss this block.  I can post directions if enough want them for using the fusible stuff.  I learned it watching Eleanor Burns.

And here are the blocks that were turned in last meeting.  They came out great, ladies!

and here's one more:

It's still not too late to guess what the June block will be and win a fat quarter.  See previous post.

Another ...and the Winner is

Chris Kerns guessed correctly that Susan was going to offer us Palm Trees on Victoria Ave as the BOM for June.  Congratulations Chris!  I'll mail that out to you soon.         AN

And thank you Chris for the photos for the Show N Share and the meeting!  It 's much appreciated by all of us in the Guild.  They are posted on the right for you to see.

Okay, ladies - same as last month.  Guess what Susan will have in store for us to make for the July meeting and you will win a fat quarter!

Leave your comments on this post.  Good luck!

And the Winner is

Sandy S!  Sandy won the Mystery Box brought to the May Meeting.  Now what can she be gesturing about with that ruler?  Hmmm.

Your items for the Mystery Box will make someone a happy quilter.  Go through your sewing room soon.  TIA!

The Mystery Box

The Mystery box is so much fun and what a bargain!  Nice stuff can be yours for only a dollar.  But we need donations to keep offering it.  We don't really want to start buying items for it.  And you can help.  Why not go through your sewing room and see if there are any like new item your willing to part with.  It's for a good cause.  All proceeds go toward Community Service.  Any donations can be dropped off at the Quilters Thrifty Corner.  Liliana and her helpers will be thrilled with what you bring.  And so will the Mystery Box winner!

monthly and yearly calendars are up.  Check tab for dates/doings.

It's Not Too Late

It's not too late to make a May Challenge quilt top.  The blocks are easy.  They could be scrappy, patriotic, bright or whatever you want,  and you only need 20 to make a Veteran Lap quilt to give to Community Service.  You can bring it fully completed - Great! or you can bring the quilt top.  We'll be having a sew day where How to Machine Quilt your Top will be our emphasis - especially on these small quilts like the 36 x 42-45 lap quilts and the prenatal quilts. The guild will provide the batting.  Block instructions are posted under the tab for Community Service labeled VA Lap Quilt Challenge.  Next meeting:  May15th.
