Retreat was Fabulous

Back from retreat - what a grand time we had.  It was a beautiful place.  The weather couldn't have been nicer or the facility better.  They had set up cutting tables and ironing stations even before we got there.  Once our work stations were as we wanted, they came and taped down the cables so no one would trip.  There were bathrooms on each end of the hall, and a full kitchen to use.  And the all included meals were fabulous!
Where we went! A beautiful retreat center
in the heart of wine country in SoCal.
We even had hot air balloon sitings one morning - getting ready for balloon festival.
Mom working on her disappearing nine-patch - she got the top done!

The quilting room couldn't have been nicer.  It even has a quilting library!
Of course we had to sample the local wines!

Here we all are at Primitive Gatherings, CA store. We also went
to The Temecula Quilt Co. - two stores with big online presence.
More photos on right sidebar.  We know the week days were a problem. Next time will be a weekend - weekends were already booked a year in advance!

See you Tuesday!

Wasn't the Mystery Box  looking festive last month?  And it was full of goodies, too! Maybe Sharon will have one for our next meeting, Tuesday the 21st.  They're always fun and fund Community Service.

And speaking of community service: be sure to meet with the chair of each type of charity donation you bring, so that you can get a ticket with your name in the year end prize drawing - the clubs way of saying Thank You for helping the club serve the community.  Don't know who to contact?  Click on the community service tab under our header and see the list.

Are you putting the finishing touches on you WIP (work in progress) for the 50% challenge?  We're looking forward to seeing what you have finished.  I really appreciate Elly coming up with this challenge because it means another UFO went from that to WIP to Gone out of my sewing room - woohoo!

Show N Share and the Challenge - it's gonna be Eye Candy Overload - what a way to go!

Meeting starts at 6:30 PM. Don't forget your badge for a chance for door prizes, and your dish if you're sharing.  See you there.

Where's Your Pin?

Your Guild Pin - I mean.  Is it on your badge?  We haven't seen many of them on badges.

This is a heads-up announcement that in May we will have a new drawing - your chance to win something quilty if your name is drawn for the Who's Got the Pin Prize.  How do you enter? First, put your guild pin on your name badge. Then,  when you sign in at the May Meeting you'll get a special ticket on which you write your name and place it in the Pin Box. A lucky winner will be drawn that night.

This won't be a monthly drawing - just one now and then so be prepared - wear your pin.

Don't have a pin?  See Sandy Sheppard to buy one.

Not too late:

Call Barbara M for details.  Know of other quilters who'd like to go on a retreat?  Pass this on.  This will be a great chance to spend 3 days of uninterrupted sewing to catch up on a project or two.

Quilt Labels

Sometimes we need help to know what to write on our quilt label (well, I know I do -an).  Here's a website that might have just what you need:

Here's an example:
with butterfly kiss and a lady bug hug,
sleep tight little one, like a bug in a rug!

Is this New to You?

Was to me.  I just tried it with my basic Clover seam ripper and it worked!

Go here to see what I'm talking about.  Yes, another video.  This one posted by Nancy.  And no, I don't spend all my time on the internet - LOL.  Just wanted to share.
