October 2018 Meeting Review

What a BONEnanza of quilts we had this past Tuesday night from the amazing Sandy Corbin! We jumped immediately into her talk and trunk show and she had some amazing tidbits to share. Her approach to fabric buying (always buy more than you need), scrap quilting (her ABC's), and her noting that crafting fights depression and dementia was truly inspiring. Sandy said her motto is "Fun and done!" and that works for us!

Sandy's ABC's of scrap quilting are her ways to continue to use her existing stash to make quilts:
A - Add a few new pieces as this can revitalize your existing stash and help you pull fabrics you've been struggling to find a place (or figure out why you bought it in the first place!)
B - Background. Add a new background fabric to help reinvigorate your stash and modernize your fabrics.
C - Color. Pick a single or two colors and focus on them.

So, get working on your PHD (project hardly done), have fun and get done! Check out all the photos of Sandy's beautiful quilts and our own Show and Share segment.

There's a link to Sandy's Fruit Pie recipe on the Recipes page and a link to Sandy's handy dandy "what you can get from a fat quarter" on the Guild Links page.

Jeri reminded us that next month our guild meeting is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and we'll be having an annual grab game. This year it's Casserole Carriers -- check out the blog post if you're still looking for a pattern.

Jeri also reminded us that our December meeting is NOT the usual night, but instead will be Friday December 14th. We will have our bi-annual potluck and share the Panel Challenges and Evie's Mini Hoffman Challenges.

Elly presented our next BOM - The Disappearing Pinwheel Pinwheel.
